This was the second time my son (now 10 yrs old) and I have run this race. As usual it was well organized and the volunteers were enthusiastic and very helpful. The course is scenic and mostly flat - very enjoyable. The location right in front of Emma's Back Porch is very convenient and the food afterward (in Emma's) plentyful and GOOD. We woke up late (65 minutes before race time), rushed from Oakville and were quickly guided by the volunteers to sign up, pay and be ready with 10 minutes to spare.
I ran these races in 2011. It's the first time I've run two races in one day (although have run 3 marathons in 3 days), and it was quite the fun challenge. Despite a bad hamstring which hampered me in the 8k race, it was a great experience. The race is well enough organized, and the post-race food was good and fattening - much needed after all that running because let's be honest, who likes a 5km race? They're just hell!
The race course is decent, and make it your next challenge.
Love this race! Just because I have won the Masters division 2 yrs running has nothing to do with my opinion of the event!
Beating David was pure satisfaction, but lets be honest...I've beaten him plenty!
Had heard about this unique event from a running friend so thought I would give it a go. Great location for a run and two nice relatively flat routes for the 5K and 8K.
Well organized and great post race venue for food, prizes, etc. Only complaint would be that they should run the 8K before the 5K so that when you have to do your second race it doesn't feel quite as bad because it is a lesser distance!
