First of all, this was my first year riding and raising money for this event. ALS impacted me personally. I tried to do training before this including hills and distances. First off it is very important to have many rest stops to refuel every 15-20 miles. This was my most favorite and enjoy event that had so many wonderful rest stops with so much great food to refuel on. I believe that is the reason I was able to bike everyday for that many miles and not getting one single cramp in the legs. Secondly, the dorms where better then 5 star hotels, bike maintenance was great, and carb food dinners where good. For me everything was great except if you don't have a team to ride with the ride becomes very lonely on and off the bike. I made a few friends but it was hard to find them etc. Others where enjoying thier own company and friends they made over the years. I would definitly suggest a meet and greet for the new riders. I was emailing the staff weeks before the event to find riding buddies and was happy to ride some miles with him.
