A 14,000 runner 10k that's half in-town and half coastal.
A well put on run with decent pricing, the only oddity is cotton instead of tech shirts -up to you if that matters. A big-race expo with your package pick-up offers a good opportunity to spend some extra money and pick your next races.
Arrive 45 minutes early to pick your starting spot if you want to avoid the slow runners. The start is time segregated but without enforcement and leads to a LOT of hour-plus runners in the <50min corral. Full-featured finish line with more food and drinks than you'll ever need.
The course starts slightly uphill for the first couple of km before dropping back down towards the ocean. About the halfway mark puts you on to the waterfront for the rest of the route - 2013 had a slight head-wind which is something to consider if you're trying to PR. Also a long gradual uphill as you first see the ocean that may take more out of you than expected.
Entertainment stations in several places around the route (be prepared to hear Eye of the Tiger at least three times) including live bands and cheering sections.
All-told a good course of moderate elevation and difficulty.
In 2014 it's the same day as the Vancouver Sun Run so it may be a slightly less busy year.
