I ran the full marathon. It was not as hilly as I was expecting but it certainly is not flat! The toughest hill is actually the downhill coming off the bridge on to the Quebec side. The race was well organized not a lot of spectators until the last 2km. The buses to the start are well run but the start area is pretty exposed bring an extra layer!
I recently ran the full marathon and I enjoyed every minute. The race is well organized from the expo till after the race celebrations. It was hot that day but that is to be expected that time of year, however they had people with hoses and sponges along the way. Also I was very appreciative of the fruits they had along. Had never seen thisonany race. Two thumbs up for that. And the vovolunteers were very energetic and cheery. If you hand not run this race you need to put it on your list. Great views too of the river.
I ran the half marathon and I definately learned that Quebec has alot of hills. It was a very hilly route and there were so many runners that you were never alone but it did not feel congested which is great. It was extremely hot this year and the race directors were telling everyone to not run for time and to stay hydrated and the volunteers were excellent. There were extra hoses on the course and sprinklers and sponges which was greatly appreciated. I had never seen so many spectators at a race and the finish line was crazy but so well organized, I was amazed. This is one of my best races ever even though my time wasn't because of the heat but I thoroughly enjoyed the race and route. I can't wait to run this again!
I did the half marathon in 2009, it was a great destination race, very well organized!! From the pasta dinner the night before the race to the shuttles and the ferry to get you to the start, great energy and overall a great experience!
I did this 10km once when I was in town for the Expo, it was great! The start line is in the middle of nowhere as we ran into town and finished where all the marathoners and half marathoners finish. But the experience was excellent, along the water, lots of energy, post race was excellent even though I did not understand most of the chatter! (french). Definitely Quebec City is a destination Race Weekend on your bucket list and if flying from Ontario try Porter Airlines while you are at it!
