Run Ajax Waterfront Half Marathon

The Town of Ajax takes great pride in its waterfront – six kilometers of unspoiled park land stretching across the Town’s southern border along the shores of Lake Ontario. This land, totaling over 150 acres, is used by residents and visitors who come to enjoy the scenic views, engage in recreational activities in the open spaces, and utilize the multi-use trail for a number of purposes. The asphalt trail, which is over four kilometers in length, is part of the Waterfront Trail that runs from Hamilton to Belleville. Participants of the Town’s half marathon (21.1 km) will experience first-hand why the waterfront is often referred to as “the jewel of the south”.

First time for this race - well organized, laid out, super expo in the corner of the soccer fields. Beautiful course. Managed a PB!!!!! Gotta say thanks to the 2:00hr Pace Bunny (whoever you are) for keeping me going - Thanks!! Worth the hour and a half to get there in the AM. The shirts are one of the best I've received!!

Amazing race, well organized.
Route was changed for the better. Loved it as we ran almost the entire race on trails around the water front.

Very well organized race, well marshaled, and a beautiful route. For those coming in from out of town there was the option to pick up your kit on race morning which is nice.

The kids 1K race was a lot of fun to watch and a great way to start the morning. I ran the half marathon and managed a PB despite windy conditions - appreciated the help from one of the many pacers.

I highly recommend this race - I plan to be back next year.

This was my first year doing Run Ajax half marathon. The event was well organized. The 1/2 M route was beautiful, well-marked, and the motivational chalk writing on the trails was a real nice touch. There were ample water stations and lots of friendly and enthusiastic volunteers. My only complaint is that the post race nutrition offerings were scarce (all that seemed to be left were juice and cookies). Disappointing but otherwise a great event.

Wow!!!!!! Awesome race . Very well organized. Great course loved the breeze off the water. Such a positive atmosphere. The course support was awesome. The organizers know exactly what they are doing. I ran the half and will definitely be back next year. Thank you running free for a great race. And a wonderful experience.

Had an amazing experience at the half-marathon this year. We live in Toronto, so we loved being able to pick up our bib the morning of the race. The course was clearly marked, and the chalk sayings on the pavement were a nice touch. :) Lots of water tables which was appreciated since it was a little hotter than expected this year.

A small race, but a nice course and very well run. The race organizers know what they are doing. "Running Free" is a great sponsor.

Kit pickup was great...everything was already in one bag. Race day was very hot for late September with no breeze so it made the race more difficult but the course was pretty easy for the 5k...out and back with a very small portion on the waterfront trail. Post race fresh hot pizza was a nice change from dry bagels. The t-shirt and finisher's medal were both nice. I prefer early start times...8 or 8:30 gives you lots of time left in the day to do other things. Appreciated having parking close by.

My 2nd 5k ever and it was a great experience. The route was well marked out and the cheeky saying written on the road were really funny and helped a lot "hill what hill?" The volunteers were great and the medal was nice - the only thing I didn't love was that I registered closer to the race date and because of that I didn't get a shirt. I will definitely run this race again.

This was my first 5K and it was a great experience. Race kit pickup was held over two days and went smoothly. Lots of parking available during the morning of the race despite me showing up shortly before the start of the race.

The course was beautiful and there was a water station was supported by enthusiastic volunteers. Will definitely make it a point to come back next year.

Wow just wow. This was my first year doing the Run Ajax half, it won't be my last. My daughters participated in the kids run and had a blast - the medals and shirts were an awesome touch. I can't believe it was free. The half was great, the route was fantastic - my only complaint was the lack of shelter and warm weather (which is no fault of the race). Who knew summer would return? The motivational messages on the trail written in chalk were MUCH appreciated and made me smile. The volunteers were fantastic, the energy of everyone couldn't be better. Pizza and the many treats post race - amazing. This was the first time I took advantage of massages after a race. My kids had no problem killing a couple hours while I ran - in fact they didn't want to leave after. This is definitely a race to keep on my roster. This is by far the best local run I've done!

Great organized race. Beautiful challenging hills along Ajax scenic trails of Lake Ontario. Many thanks to all the courteous volunteers and organizers Paul and Matthew Leduc as well as the crew and pacers from Running Free.

A good 5K race. Good course...all asphalt, which was nice. Some nice hills too. Organization was good. Volunteers along the route were excellent, always cheering and encouraging. At half way mark of 5K, water and Gatorade were offered, which was welcomed. Excellent chalk markings and motivating comments along the route. Overall a very good race.

I enjoyed this course last year. It was my first organized run. Everything was great for a first run, registration area, expo, on course marshalls, volunteers. Great job. Only draw back was ran out of medals however I got an email when it was in, really a small issue for a well run event. Plan to run this event every year.

It was very good race, the 1/2 marathon coarse was challenging , very hilly, which I like. The only issues I had was that they ran out of t-shirts, even though I registered early. And they ran out of metals. That was irritating. Also, I found the pacers were running way to fast, I couldn't keep up but still finished well below my expected time.

The race is well organized and the course is scenic, FLAT and FAST. I PRed on this course twice so far. Running by the lake is just so beautiful.

first race and I was impressed with the turn out and organizational...everything appeared to run smoothly...I'm excited for my next 5K

September 22nd, 2013 3:31 pm

My first ever 5K race, so I haven't any context, but it appeared to be a well organized 5K with police, good announcer and bib timing chips. All in all, enjoyable and well organized.
