Fun and well organized. Food after included bagels, bananas, water, and cookies.
I was pleasantly surprised how well this small event was organized. The route was very clearly marked, lots of volunteers on course, and I'm not sure what the other poster was referring to but it was very safe, road lane was shut down, and had police directing traffic. Shirt was nice, and being the 10th year they had finisher medals (and a very nice one at that.) My only complaints are the podium needs to be repaired, last two years the number two has been written with a paper and pen, but I have been assured that will be fixed for next years race, and thing that bothers me is that overall finishers cannot win for their age groups. I know they are not the only race that does that but I do not agree with it. If you win you win, I would be upset if I got 1st place in my age group, then checked the results the next day to find out I didn't actually win, I got the medal on a technicality. All in all a great event.
Second year running it, last year placed in my category so I received a medal, this year not so lucky. I think this race needs a medal, sorry I like the bling. The course is great around the lake but the start on the sidewalk is dangerous and crowded. That part needs to change and the walkers right at the front need to be told to go to the back, I had to pass so many right at the start.
I ran the 5K race in between two 10K events and had a wonderful time. Great fast course with only a couple of small hills. There are no finisher medals, but the crowd is small enough that you may have a chance at an age class medal.
They started the 5K 5 minutes after the 10K which was a great idea to reduce congestion in the first 1km.
See you next year!
