Beautiful route by the water in the half marathon with the sun rising over the bay. More water/gatorade stations than any race I've done. Absolutely the best post-race food and goodies. Great atmosphere and expo. Very few mile markers and sparse crowd support except at start and finish, but I'd do it every year if I didn't live 1000 miles away!

This was my first Gasparilla Race and first 15k. Loved the course ... Beautiful Bayshore. Plenty of water stations and port a potties along way.
Love living in Tampa!

Organization very poor. "computers down" day of race so bibs could not be located. (I flew 4,000kms for this $#!t?)
after struggle to get bib get stuck in the fatty pack cross finish line 10 mins after gun because they put a 1 lane bridge 2km into race. Huge backlog!
I know florida in inbred but this was ridiculous.
medals and shirts best I've ever received, kudos.
All else pretty the course get an internet conncection and I'll be back.

From Oviedo/Orlando, my 12-year-old son ran the 5K & 8K and asked me before leaving to make the hotel reservations for next year. That says enough! Great event and city!

Great event! The expo is awesome, the entire event is well organized, and it's a gorgeous course! I ran the 1/2 marathon, and there were plenty of aid stations throughout the event, including Gatorade, gel shots, and energy chews. On course entertainment was fantastic! Also, the race shirt and medal may just be my favorites. All around awesomeness, definitely do this race!

had a great time. first time at this event & ran the 8k. nice medal. very long food line but thanks columbia restaurant for the good eats. & a little disappointed that we never did find the beer. suggestion: packet pick up in pinellas for next year would be nice. getting into tampa during rush hour on a friday was a nightmare.

Too Many People and the race itself was good but the water situation was not well planned. I am a new runner and when I went to try to get water they were pouring it into our hands and at the finish line, we had to walk a long way before we got bottled water. Love the race but the limits of people needs to be reconsidered.

I had a great race and set a personal PR. It was hard to get a full feel for the glamor of the race and the efforts all the people put into it to make it happen. With the rain and wind we were not able to see all the effort because things did not go off like they would have if the weather would have been better. I felt so lost on the race course with no mile markers posted and time clocks not out. If I would have known there where no clocks I would have worn a watch. I understand why, but it made things hard to enjoy all the spectacle as it would have been. The music on the course was also missing. All of the above is no fault on the people who put this event on. The weather is the weather. I will be back next year. Keep up the good work Gasparilla crew. Lets pray for better weather next year.

Run the four races of this event in 2011 (15K and 5K on the Sarturday and Half Marathon and 5+3K on the Sunday). Incredible venue and very well organised. Good atmosphere and exitement from all the participants. Early start for the half but it is Florida! My only small complaint would be it too them too long to work out the results of the ultra race where I was fortunate enough to be first Master.

I have done this race a few times particularly in 2011 when I set a World Record for Mascot Running in the half! I didn't see much of the course as my visibility was reduced by 75%....however I heard screams of support the entire way. And there were tonnes of water stations, a super expo and amazing freebies and samples. Florida's best race weekend!
