I registered for the Nike Womens Half Marathon hoping to be one of the names drawn and a few weeks later I got that email saying I was chosen.

Nike does an outstanding job putting on a race. They turned Union Square into a huge Nike Tent Expo with a DJ, catered food, samples, limited edition Nike Womens half marathon shoes and gorgeous Nike clothing. It was massive and fun!!!!!

The Nike store had all the runners names on their glass windows which was neat and inside the store was more half marathon apparel. I could have spent hundreds of dollars as it the clothing was incredible.

Race day was impressive with handling close to 25,000 runners could not have gone more smoothly. With our designated corrals I immediatley found the bus to drop off my bag and and they had plenty of signs and volunteers to assist. They had a DJ playing music at the start line which got everyone pumped up to go.

The course was great with some challenging hills but Nike had huge tv screens at the top of them showing the runners to keep everyone motivated. There were baptist choirs signing, drummers, bands, rappers all along the route with tremendous crowd support. Loads of water stations with gatoraid if you wanted it.

At the end was the prize that all these fellow women runners ran for. We each received a Nike water bottle, another goodie bag and the coveted Tiffany blue box containing the Tiffany necklace. Loved it and something unique that I can wear all year.

At the end as well was another huge Nike tent which had a special area for stretching as well as more samples of food and a special finishers expo to purchase finishers merchandise.

Because the finish line was down by San Francisco Bay they chartered dozen of buses to keep making trips back to Union Square. The entire event was extremely well organized, exciting and the downtown core embraced the entire event. Loved this race and will do it again. Beautiful city to hold such a large event.
