the organization of the race and the volunteers are fantastic. starting all races earlier or as early as possible would help alleviate the impact of the mid day sun in august

This was my 3rd year doing the Olympic Du. It's a fast course that is spectator friendly. It is well organized and has great volunteers.

Very nice event. There were lots of spectators and most of the volunteers were incredibly helpful and enthusiastic. I did the Olympic distance, and found the course awesome as a place to set a pb - the bike course is flat and fast (world class, really!), and the run was pretty flat too, so it's great if you're a speed demon!
I have a few small recommendations for improvements:
1. My partner and I signed up for the "couples challenge". The website is very clear that this is open to any couple, but we were twice asked whether we are a "real" couple. I can't help but feel we were asked this because we are a lesbian couple. I personally found it pretty insensitive. My suggestion is either get rid of the couples challenge, or just accept the fact that you can't cross-check people to ensure they are "really" a couple.
2. The start of the run goes down a narrow path, where there is two way traffic. At the start of my run, I encountered several men racing out of the water (I think they had just finished the sprint swim). It was a little alarming and very dense traffic. It also made the route a little confusing and chaotic.
3. Most of the volunteers were great, but a few didn't seem to know where to direct athletes. Maybe more signs would be helpful?
All in all, a great race that brought out tons of people, and showcased great aspects of the city.

Good organisation, but the start is very too tight!!

Great volunteers and organizers, always a great start. Somersault does a great effort to open triathlon to everyone, from top-level athletes to newbies. Ran the super sprint, which is the only race that I know that offers good distances for bike and run, while having a shorter swim. Overall, really liked this event and am planning on registering for next year.

Excellent event. Opportunities for all levels and ages. Volunteers are super supportive. The organizers were helpful and made every effort to ensure participants knew where to be and when. I fully expected to be swamped by other racers. Never happened. Layout and lag time between the many races going on was superb! If a tri us on your bucket list, this is the race to join!

Races are well organized and accessible for ordinary folks, not just elite athletes. Did the sprint Tri, which was a lot of fun. Pre-race orientation by coach Geordie is great and hilarious. Volunteers were plentiful and extremely helpful.

This was my first sprint duathlon, and it was a great event! The orientation was really helpful, and everything was simple and well laid out on race day. It was a lot of fun and I plan on continuing to do this event every year. The only draw back was the cost, otherwise I would do more races throughout the summer.

Loved this event because of the number of people it brings out. I did the super sprint--not being a great swimmer, I liked the fact that I could touch the bottom when I need to! My only comment is that the bike course gets a little confusing when keeping track of the loops.
