I had a lot of fun running this race for the first time this year! The course is great with a few rolling hills and well marked. The volunteers who organized the race were cheerful and did an excellent job. I will definitely mark next year's race down on my calendar!

This is an extremely well organized race that boasts a fast and well marked course with loads of spectators along the way. The friendly small town atmosphere along with its generous awards and draw prizes are ideal for both a first time 5k runner or a seasoned road racer looking for a record. But what really gets you to the finish line fast is the Starbucks and Cobs scones waiting as the post-race feast!

I was a spectator for a few of my friends who were participating in the race and overall it was a great race and event! Well organized, inclusive, and a fun day for families, young and old. There was a great mix of quite competitive runners and recreational joggers/walkers. Definitely a race I would participate in in the future!

Fun race! Well organized, the course was very well marked and the race bags were full of goodies. There was also lots of food after. For the price it's hard to beat! Definitely racing again next year.

It is a fun community event, but a bit disorganized. There seems to be problems with the timing EVERY year. Family rates only apply to 4-5 people (single parents w kids need not attend!), and this year we were treated to a very long dissertation by the MC on her problems with diarrhea and running. Good if you are not a serious runner, otherwise take a pass...

My first event. It was a great time. Well organized, fun participants, nice route ... all in all I had fun. Its got the small town feel with a closed off route, lots of neighbors cheering you on ... highly recommended.

I've run the Mt. Albert Sports Day 5km Run/Walk many times and have always enjoyed the fact that this event is right here in my own community. The event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also encourages and supports active living for all. What better way to get people outside running or walking and having fun at the same time!

I ran this race again, what a great little run! Super small town feel, not too many spectators (it was raining) but the roads are fully closed to traffic, great goodie bag, amazing post race food, samples, coffee. Too bad the race results were delayed (big time) and it was clear the timing company has to smarten up as many, many people like me could not wait so long for this to be resolved.

This was my first race and I just loved it. It has such a community feel and friendly atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this race for anyone just starting out, it was the perfect level of difficulty.

I’ve done this race the last two years. There are no finisher metals. Cotton unisex t-shirts instead of tech t-shirts, which would be understandable if there weren’t so many sponsors. Every km marker has its own corporate sponsorship and the race kit is 90% advertising flyers. You’d think they could afford finisher metals. The biggest problem however is the organization of the post race. None of the awards are handed out until well after the last walker has crossed the finish line. It was cold and raining and we had to wait for approx. 30 minutes after that (but what seemed like forever) while dozens of random draw prizes were handed out. Then we had to wait another 20 minutes while all the kids under 13 were given their finisher metals. Why not hand the kids their medals as they cross the finish line? It was worse this year because they seemed to have technical problems. Most races I’ve been to start the age group awards well before the end of the race. If I wasn’t in town for the sports day weekend, I probably wouldn’t do this race again.

The Mount Albert run is great fun! A good race for the kids to get hooked on running - they are 8 and 11 and a lot faster than me :) Excellent chance to support a local community too!

I do this race almost every year since I live in the community, it's part of a weekend festival so if you are coming from outside town bring the kids and make a day of it, it's fun! As a former Boston Marathoner I enjoy these small, local races where everyone knows your name and there are no lineups for the washroom.

I ran this once, very neat little 5km, small town feel, couple of hills....and it's a Saturday morning so just get back on the 400 and hit the cottage after....

Great race! I volunteer every year, as well as walk the route. It's a really fun local event.
