This was the first time I have done the Peachbud race. It's considered a bit of a classic race in Niagara and it gets a good turn out. A good, appropriately challenging course - some good short hills and some nice flat terrain.
I found the cost of the race decent. As someone previously mentioned, the food was good, but the swag was practically nil. It's a nice extra that is usually an opportunity for local companies and race-related companies to give out freebies as promotion.
The spectator turnout for this race is great. There were a lot of residents cheering from the sidelines which is nice. It shows that the community supports the race. Given the extreme heat, it was nice to see the fire department provide a hose down, Rona providing sponges and local residents willing to hose off runners. It was disappointing that the police didn't do a better job preventing cars from driving on the course for the entirety of the race. There were points towards the end of the race in which I was almost hit by cars driving on the course and I was forced to leave the road to remain safe.
Having spoken to individuals who have done this race in previous years, there appears to be a downward trend in the organization of this race. I'm glad to have participated in this event, but will definitely think twice before signing up again next year.
Disappointed the 1K was not a 1K....more like a 1.3K and guess what some of these kids running it are running for time, respect that, they are your future runners. It would also be great to give the top 3 boys/girls some recognition since the medal is plastic.
This is my 4th year running Peachbud and the course is great as well as the support on the course. Loved the firehouse and the sponges, well needed on a hot humid night. I think the hot meal added last year is a great and always tastes delicious after a great run! Agreed the shirts this year were not pretty.
Good course nice mix of in and out of town. Pretty flat lots of turns brings your time down. Big kudos to Grimsby fire for having hose out on main drag for a quick cool down. (it was a hot one)
Grimsby (Niagara) police - need to get their heads out of their asses, had to stop at two intersections as they were allowing traffic while top runners were coming through - really? (big head shake)
Parking was a nightmare but got 4k of warm up in going back and forth to my car.
No swag...lame for the cost.
5k started before 10k....? How does this make sense?
Didn't hang around to collect awards and god forbid anybody mail them anymore $2.00 in postage far too much to spend despite the ever escalating costs of races.
Shirts are sad at best you'd beat yourself up for wearing one in public.
Organizers...give a decent shirt or save your money and lower the cost of entry crappy shirts go where they belong...in the garbage.
ok race surprised it wasn't a first or second year affair, amateur.
Great race overall and my first "big" organized race. The 5k route was pretty good and enjoyed the cheers and water/sponge stations on the way. I had been looking forward to the "live Bands on route" menioned on the web site, but there weren't any. After a great race like this would be nice to have something after, but minor points as was very well run with good food after.
Great race. The kids enjoyed the 1 km run. I appreciated the sponge station. The weather was perfect! The mat was out on the start line. I enjoyed the food. There was also a water station at the start. I will do it again next year and try to break my personal best this year. There was no wind! My time was 26:56. Same time as two years ago again.

I'm a french student, I'm here for an internship and this is my first race!
Fortunately, there was a sponge station ! It's like a new departure ! and I want to run again, next step : 10K !(in France or Canada) !
This years 10K was the first race I have ever participated in. Overall it was great. Plenty of water/gatorade on the course. Sponges were very pleasant. Good BBQ at the finish, only disappointment was no fruit left when I got there.
I will be back.
Great race atmosphere and interesting perks. The sponge station was a big help and the course was very nice. Not many 10Ks offer finisher medals, and the peachbud was fantastically cute. I would definitely recommend this race to other runners. It was friendly and fun with a good atmosphere.
It was my first 5K.it was an amazing experience!
The organization and the food was good.I bless the sponge station and If I can, I would like to do it again but with a better time!
ran the 10 k for the 2nd year in a row. Extremely well organized and a fun time. Food at the end was great. Will definitely plan on attending again.
Ran this for the first time last night. LOVED everything about the race.
Race day kit pickup
Amazing volunteers and all intersections were monitored by police
Great aid stations include a sponge station which helped with the summer heat. (RACE DIRECTORS - take note of this!)
Tons of food post race.
Great race. Well organized with package pickup, staggered start times for different events, plenty of water & gatorade along the route, and plenty of food at the finish.
This was my first 5k and I loved it. I liked the course and feeling great when I finished...got choked up! I will do this race again next year!
Well first of all, fantastic numbers for Jerry's race. The weather was great and the course was well managed. The shoot at the end was an improvement, instead of running through the grass. Overall a superb job done by Jerry's crew!
This was my first time running in an organized race, and the people helping out made it so fun and easy! The food was great, the music was good and the volunteers were very helpful! This experience makes me want to do it again and i plan on doing it next year.
First time I have run the 'Peach' having heard so much about it. Really enjoyed it although very tiring (I decided to run both the 5k and the 10K!).
Nice challenging course with a few good hills in it.
Good after race entertainment and I was lucky enough to win a GPS watch in one of the draws - lucky me!
I think this is the best “small” race outside of the GTA, and worth the drive from Toronto or elsewhere especially if you can leave work early. IF you win an age group prize stick around, pitch a tent…..(:
Great race. This was our first time attending the Peachbud race. It was well organized, well supported and very competitive. We travelled over 2 hours from Victoria Harbour, Ontario for a Tuesday race. After we arrived and saw the number of people and the live band playing and we knew we weren’t going to be sorry. The 5k and 10k races started right on schedule. The courses were mostly flat and fast. The traffic control on the streets was fantastic. There were lots of water and gatorade tables on course and even a sponge station which was nice on a warm night. The band continued to play post race and there seemed to be plenty of food and drinks for all finishers. Definitely will mark it on my calendar for next year.
my daughter completed our first official race, and really enjoyed the experience. we were both pleased with our finish times, and would like to do some more races this year. we both benefited from running with others (we usually run on our own) we both felt that overall the race was a neat experience, but were a little confused trying to find where to go, and where to find to appropriate information we needed, regarding the event. we will know better for next time, and hope we can continue to improve as runners. i particularly like the encouragement from other racers and those on the sideline, and the sponges was a great idea.
thanks to all those who helped organize this race, as i’m sure they put a lot of work into it.
I was extremely happy with the race and the energy that i come home with.
The only thing that was a pain was the runners with the stroller that started up front on
the 10k. I didn’t feel comfortable with suggesting that she should start in the back but she
really did get in the way of alot of runners in the beginning.
5 stars for this race.
Great race!! Lots of fun! But next year – could you do something about that wind?
