I ran the 2013 Ford Race to End Diabetes 5k event. The weather was absolutely perfect for the run. I found the event was well organized and the organizers did a good job putting on the event.

Even though the course was a modified out and back (I normally don't like out and backs too much), I did enjoy the route. At some points the route was a bit tight due to roads not being completely closed off to traffic and once had to slow up as a vehicle was turning onto the route.

The post-race events were also well received. Ample water, fruit and coffee. I didn't stick around for the pizza, but there seemed to be a long line for it...must have been good.

It would be easier in the future to move to the bib tag system for timing, as I almost left the event with the foot tag still attached to my shoe.

Overall, I enjoyed the run and will likely participate again in the future.

Just want to first say that this is a fun race, great atmosphere, and organizers worked hard to put on a great event.

However, from the running side, the course was WAYYYY short last year (2011). This year, on the other hand, from what I can only assume was an attempt to correct it, they actually made it well over 5km. If you simply look at results from 2011, and compare them to 2012, you will see runners who ran both, their times are 1-2 minutes apart year over year. If they actually want fast people to show up, they need a consistent route, or a certified route so that people who pay $35+ to run, don't end up running to long or too short. Come on guys, all we want is a 5km course, take our your measuring stick or GPS and walk the course.
