In 2011 I entered this run after my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, it was the first run I had ever entered. Two years later I am still running and looking forward to this years run, albeit in memory of my father who lost his battle on January 1, 2013. It is definitely a family event and not a competitive race, but a great location and a fun day at the beach. If you have a link to the charity then it does not have to be about the competition, enjoy the day and support the cause.
Very fun family event with several amenities such as free South st Burgers, carnival style play area and fresh lemonade. Not a very competitive atmosphere and not chip timed. Fast, flat course but not closed and pedestrians can sometimes slow you down. Running on the boardwalk is nice but without a breeze can sometimes be very hot.
I ran this race - once, great idea, fun theme but it is terribly disorganized and should not be called a run. More like a walk with an Oh By the Way runners go for it and we will see you back at the finish line. It is a super event for families and walkers but drop the word run finally.
