This was my first year running the 5km run. The location for this run is beautiful and it is all along paved pathways through the park by Fairy Lake in Newmarket. It was very well organized, with the crowd lined up according to finishing times, which really helped with 200 runners spacing themselves along narrow paths. It is chip timed, with age group awards, and a race shirt is provided as well as an esso discount card. The post-race BBQ was one of the best I had ever seen - I actually asked if there was a charge for this, which there wasn't. The food consisted of BBQ hotdogs, watermelon, oranges, an assortment of full size chocolate bars, chocolate milk, cookies, etc. It is for a very good cause and very touching to see pictures of the children along the route who have passed away from this disease. I will be running this one every year.

I did this run 3-4 years ago, wow, what an experience. Yeah, it's not just a was a truly memorable event. Very moving and if you left the park not knowing about SMA and emptying your pockets of loose change then you were swimming in the nearby pond! Great music, entertainment, a silent auction under a big tent, the MC (announcer) is probably the best I have ever heard, and like military precision the large crowds move thru a narrow path system effortlessly. IF you ever want to support a small, local run that is all about charity, or if you are a race director wanting to take notes, attend this run!
