Yes mistakes do happen but there are better ways to handle them.
After registering online for this event in late August, I was surprised to be told I was not on the list. After some fuss, my info was taken and I was "permitted" to run the event anyway. These things happen.
Following the race, I was paged and told to report to the race officials. I was informed that I needed to go home and send in some support documentation to prove that I had really registered. Please keep in mind that I have run ( and paid for, needless to say) close to 600 races over many years in this community. Now my day is ruined.
Coming home, I did exactly that............. even going so far as to link to the confirmation list with my name on it.
Still waiting for my apology. Certainly not like the old days when Jerry Friesen ran the events. Now that was a race director!
Doubtful that I will run any more events with this outfit.
Very good for a small race
Ran the 8K race from the series for the first time. Very well organized, fairly priced and starts late enough for the people from GTA to get there. Will be back
I have run this race a couple of times and really like it.
The last time was a very emotional occasion owing to the unexpected passing away of Jerry Friesen the Race Director , only a couple of weeks previously. The race went ahead as a memorial run and it was amazing to see how many runners came out .
The race itself is a more or less flat and fast 8k that runs from the Casablanca Inn in a loop towards the lake and back. Its a pretty exposed route and both times I've run the winds have been pretty chilly - time to bring out the winter running hat and gloves. The course is quite lovely at times and there are a couple of well stocked aid stations.
Post race the food is EXCELLENT and the awards upstairs in the hotel make for a fun and laid back occasion.
A nice run to wind up the season.
I've run this race for the last 3 year. It's a great run, mostly flat in the Niagara Region. This last one was a heartbreaking one, as the race organizer Jerry Friesen had recently passed away. It was amazing how everyone came together to run in memory of him. Will never forget it!
Nice view of Grimsby's surrounding rural area and back towards the hotels located right off the QEW. Could not have been done without Jerry Friesen and his years of hard work in the running community of Niagara. He will be greatly missed.

An amazing race, and an incredible celebration of Jerry. The run is so well organized - like Kevin McKinnon called it, it is truly a runner's race. Excellent, flat, scenic route. Magnificent volunteers. And very yummy treats post race. This was my 1st year doing the race. I did it for Jerry - to celebrate his amazing life and legacy. I will be back. We all should be back and continue to support Jodi and the kids... and keeping Jerry's legacy alive and running!
This year's run is going to be super emotional, so bring some kleenex for Jerry's last run. It's also cold and windy along the water and a toque and gloves will come in handy, great season-ending run for some, a PB course if ever there was one. Indoor area before and after really helps.
