This event is great. If you are a walker. No chip timing. Mixing walkers with dogs and strollers and runners on a path that allows 5 people side-by-side means that the runners will end up running beside the path. Runners can be rude, but the walkers clearly did not care to share. As one of the organizers told me, this is more of a walking event.

I loved this race in 2013. I was so excited to do it in 2014 but I was disappointed with the event this year. No pre race pickup (last year done through running room) but the bigger issue was the start line of the 5k and 10k run! Why did it start so far away with no crowd? That ruined the vibe. The route was boring this year (running along a chain link fence out and back?). At $40 registration certainly could have been some water on the course. Also, what a let-down to cross the finish line with nobody there because your family is waiting (in confusion) for you at the party sight. I hate to be critical since I know this is volunteer driven (by awesome volunteers by the way) but please, please go back to format and route of 2013. It was so much better. I love this race but I wouldn't do it again if it followed this format again.

Attended the Walk of Life on in 2013 and 2014. 2013 was not bad, albeit a bit crowded. 2014 was a big disappointment. They moved the 5K and 10K run to a different location, with the start line being more than 10 minutes walk from the walk start line. The volunteers were not informed about two separate locations. Five out of five had no clue. Also, it was super hot and there was no water anywhere on the course, just at the start/finish. The t-shirts are made out of cotton and have the same design as they did the previous year. The medals for kids were also the same as before.
On a positive note, the after-run market had great and inexpensive food.
With so many great events out there, I will not be doing this one again.

Loved that my kids could dance and get exercise without doing the WALK - I danced with them too while my husband ran the 5 KM. Even my elderly dad had fun swinging to the music with his grandaughters. Heart healthy gourmet food trucks and more kids activities were a treat afterwards !

I ran this 5km last year, not a bad little route but the km markers were way off and on the way back we had to navigate past the hordes of walkers....they could easily be started 30 minutes after the runners to avoid this, and, put the finish line at the bottom of the SICK, big hill....and get rid of cotton shirts! Great post-run food thanks to Whole Foods....
