I ran the beaches 1/2 this year. The event was very organized with bib pick up morning of for out of 'towners'. There was plenty of water aid stations with many volunteers that actually paid attention! The crowd support was great for this capped run (not big and not too small). Plenty of food with water for recovery. The swag was awesome this year...I singlet instead of 'another' t shirt! Signing up for this race again!!!

I paced this event and loved every minute of it. The volunteers were enthusiastic and encouraging, the swag was great, and the scenery on the course was second to none. I also loved the early start time. I was home well before lunch to enjoy the day with my family!

I loved the new start/finish the boardwalk.
Need more #portapotties (as does every race).
Great route. Excellent volunteers, marked well. Loved the live band on route.
Very squishy at the finish area...bikers and runners. The food area needs to be enlargened to avoid people standing on the finish path.
Loved that we got a singlet in our swag.
Thank you!!

2nd year running at the Beaches Jazz Run. Excellent course, refreshments and the volunteers were fabulous! See you next year!

Overall a good race, but course directions could have been better organized. Around the 12 KM, there were a series of pylons in a line, suggesting a boundary; I thus turned and ended up in the wrong area, and had to loop back around. I was at the front, and had some distance between the runner ahead and myself, so I was relying largely on signs and volunteers to navigate.

In short: more signs/directions would be appreciated. Otherwise, great atmosphere, volunteers, refreshments and prizes.

A completely different review from a back of the pack walker.

I registered for the half to help support a cause that is dear to me - #JPsTeam. He was leading the group for 2:15, but I knew I was nowhere close to that, but I wanted to represent. Little did I know I would be the *ONLY* walker.

Race pickup was easy and painless.

This race is geared to runners for sure. I placed dead last male. Did that bother me? Not at all. Why? Along the course, I had the volunteers still fully engaged, music still playing, and a crowd cheering at the end.

That may seem like a small thing to a runner, but as someone who smashed their hip 22 years ago, and was lucky to even walk again, that's huge. Ever dealt with a station out of water? Direction signs already taken down? Marshalls already at the bar? Sweep crew right behind you, muttering to themselves loudly that you're too slow? I have. NOT THIS TIME.

I may volunteer next year instead so the other volunteers can finish earlier, but this half was one that will remain in my heart for a lifetime. To top it off, I beat my PB my 8 minutes! I'm still stunned how I did it. My last half was in freezing rain.

Great job!

I ran the half marathon. This was a very well organised race. The bib was very easy to pick up being right across the road from a subway station. There was plenty water stations with lots of very friendly volunteers. The course is flat and fast. The only down side was the last 4k you join back with the 10k so there are slower runners to get around. Also you have to deal with the people that have come to enjoy the beach and have no idea that there is a race on. Overall this was a great race, with a low entry fee, lots and lots of awards and plenty of prizes. I would definitely do this race again!

I ran the half marathon and when I arrived I was a bit skeptical as the start line had yet to be set up less than an hour before the race. But come 7:30, it was all set up and we were off! The route was great, there were volunteers all along it so I never felt lost (even though I had no clue where I was going). Thanks to the early start the weather was very bearable (although yes it was hot, but it is July what do you expect!). The medals and the post race food was great. I ended up placing in my age group so stayed for the awards and even won a draw prize. Beaches Runners Club pulled off a great event!! I love that there was a tent where you could check your results after the race.

I usually end my race season at the end of October but am now seriously considering the Tannenbaum 10km thanks to the great experience I had running the half.

The half starts early (7:30am) meaning temperatures were bearable despite being in the dead of summer.
Scenic with the beach boardwalk & Tommy Thompson Park route.
Entry fee was super cheap compared to others.
Overall a great option for a July race in Toronto.

Wonderfully organized, very personal and attentive. The course is well laid-out and sheltered, and the organizers put on a top-notch event. It was an excellent race for my mid-training program checkup.

Such a great race! This was my first half marathon and I could not have asked for a better experience. Very well organized, everything was well communicated, the route is nice and scenic (and flat!). Volunteers and organizers did a fantastic job! I will definitely be coming back next year.

Fantastic, well-organized event, from ease of race kit pick up, baggage check, & user-friendly website, to plenty of hydration stations, volunteers, & draw prizes post-race. The race itself is now an official half marathon distance (vs. 20k fun run in the past) on a flat, fast course along the lake, & it's chip-timed . The race kit was great, there was plenty of post-race healthy snacks & drinks, the unique finishers medal has a jazz theme... What more can I say? It's top-notch.

Very well organized and such a fun race!!

The weather was really comfortable. However, I was hoping they would have provided an address for the location of the race. My friend and I were almost late because my dad was driving trying to look for the start line. My friend and I ended up running almost or at least 10km instead of 5km because we were not told to turn around at the 2.5km mark. We also didn't know where the turn around was. Please make sure the volunteers are aware of the bib distances. Also I was getting quite frustrated that we had to share the running trail with the public. At times, people kept crossing onto the beach without paying attention. Others had to ask to move out of their way. Maybe next time close the beach and open it up to the public until all three races are done? All and all it was a great race and we both achieved a major PR. I quite enjoyed running today. :)

Fabulous Half Marathon - great course - especially for those trying their first half or one after a period of not racing a half marathon. Volunteers were amazing and everything was well organized! Thank you so much again for a great morning!

Lots of on course support from the volunteers, the water stations were evenly spaced out, great communication prior to the race and very well organized. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Great hydration. Easy package pickup. Wonderful volunteers.
Small issue at the merge with the 10k'ers.
Not a fan of the actual finishing down the boardwalk having to dodge people bikers strollers and dogs....big ones.
Othet then posting many many race in progress signs for some help with this...not much you can do.
Drink food and sponsors closed it up a tad early in my opinion...all why i can quite give it the full 5 bananas

Great event, well organized and lots of water stations were much appreciated given the heat! Hope to do it again next year.

Great weather made for a great race. The route is a shared path, but we were advised to keep to the right. Volunteers throughout were great at directing runners and stopping cars as you passes parking lots. Lots of water stations and varied terrain. Be careful though as the boardwalk was a bit slippery with all the sand. Great post-race refreshment and an excellent way to lead into a day at the Jazz fest! I also liked how instead of only shirts, you could choose a race souvenir; I got a keychain that I now use. My only complaint was that it was a bit far for me (coming from the west end of the city).

Great event. Running along the beach is nice. A BBQ at the end would have giving it 6 bananas!

Excellent race with a grat view and great location. The board walk at the end was a bit tough on the feet!

Very well organized, very hot along Lakeshore but that was expected. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys the beautiful beach scenery. C'mon what better reward to running a race than lounging on the beach afterwards listening to jazz music??

great race, good atmosphere - lots of water stops. There could have been a few more distance indicators between 2 and 18 km. Still, overall, we organized, beautiful scenery. Very low entrance fee too!

A great race in the beach during the Jazz Festival weekend. What could be better than a run along the waterfront, followed by a a relaxing afternoon listening to jazz. A great race for a good cause. Come out an enjoy any of the distances. There is a race for everyone.
