Like all marathons, Marathon Bahamas is 26.2 miles. What differentiates us from other marathons is that our country is steeped in history and culture, world renown for its tourism product and a great vacation destination…as a marathoner, you get to run through it all!
“The body does not want you to do this. As you run, it tells you to stop but the mind must be strong. You always go too far for your body. You must handle the pain with strategy….It is not age; it is not diet. It is the will to succeed.”
Jacqueline Gareau, 1980 Boston Marathon champ

I had a great time at the Bahamas Marathon on Jan 17, 2016. I ran the half. The race was really well organized.
The 6 am start keeps you out of the sun for an hour, which is great for us who have not run in the heat for a while.
Water stations were well organized.
Being able to walk into the ocean right after the race was amazing.
There was some music along the course, which added energy.
There was a shuttle service from the hotels to the start, which was great. It gave you a chance to meet other runners.
The medals are very attractive.
The only challenge was the lack of washrooms at the start!
I was in the Bahamas on the weekend of the race, and it was by far one of the best 1/2 Marathon's I have run. It was scenic, refreshing, and full of positive energy from start to finish. Many thanks to the organizers for putting together a home run!!!
Want to run a marathon (marathon, half marathon) event in the middle of winter? Run Marathon Bahamas (Nassau)January 15, 2012. Start/finish ocean front with a great post-race party and lots of ocean vistas along the course. Perfect weather too!
