this was a very well organized race. every aspect of this was well run. the pancake breakfast afterwards was awesome; however, it would have been great if there had been some shade from the sun while waiting in line. All in this this was a great race.
This was the second time running this race and it is a great event. The route is well laid out and it is perfect for someone attempting to run a 5km for the first time. It was out of the Rickard Sports Complex this year so parking was ample and easily accommodated all the participants. Each race had different start times and were well spaced apart. The only negative aspect I found this year was the race organizers did not have a sufficient supply of bottled water for the runners. They ran out of bottled water before the races were complete which left some of the longer distance runners searching for water as they crossed the finish line. Other than that, it was a great run and I will be there next year.
This race changed quite a bit this year with more distance options, a new course, new organization, t-shirts, etc, but it was very well run and organized. The Pancake breakfast at the end for all participants was a great bonus for an already 'good-value for the price' race! Will definitely be back.
This is a great race. I have done it many times and would recommend it to everyone. Its great to have a local race with such value and lots of fun.
This is a well organized race – from the race kit pick up to the end with the awards and posted results!! The race is a nice one set in the country! It isn’t a flat race though which makes all of that hill training come into use. I have been privileged to be a walker in the Alfie Shrubb race and to be a runner in it!! I have also walked in the first ever Alfie Shrubb race in Slinfold, England!! What an amazing experience that was!! The race began with us following a fire truck!! Why a fire truck?? Alfie Shrubb had been discovered as a runner in Slinfold when he beat a fire truck to a local fire. Be sure to sign up for this race which will be on Sunday, June 3rd this year!!:)
This is a fun well organized race that is worth travelling to for your first race. Last year I had convinced a bunch of friends to try this race out for their first every race. Not only do you get a medal at the end but you also receive a technical tee-shirt. All my friends are coming back for the second year because they had such a great experience last year. Also for the value $35.00 you can't get any better then that. Also it is a charity event for Campooch. A camp for children with cancer.
Try this race you will have alot of fun bring your kids for the 1k and make it a family event. The Famous Bowmanville will be on hand with a Camel for the kids to ride.
This is a nice local race. It's an out and back course that is a little hilly, but it's a straight course. Race day pickup was easy and you get a nice shirt (although it fits tight) and a replica medal of what Alfie Shrubb one. Being a smaller race, you have a good chance at winning one of the door prizes (I won a cap!). A fun run with a great community feel.
I have never run this race but hear great feedback from other runners, a superb morning event with a unique history.
