It hurts, at my level of running, it hurts. It bloody kills. I love it and I hate it. If it was eleven miles long it would be just lovely, but it isn't. It is a great race, you want to test yourself, do this? The beer in the middle is good. Did I mention that it hurts? I came back after 2012 and did 2013, and I will keep coming back. Why? Because I am stupid! It hurts. Kudos to the organizers, this is super friendly and fun, but it hurts. Long live 12 mile creek half! Please put the party back in the field. I love it!

Greatest running event ever. Full of surprises, constantly changing terrain, wine at the half way mark, a flutist, a bagpipe player, and kegs of beer. Weather has been iffy the last couple of years, looking forward to perfect weather this year.

There are few reasons why I like the race so much. It is a fairly small event, with only about 100 participants. The race takes place on single-track and gravel trails, in a fairly scenic environment along 12 Mile Creek. Most races have a defining landmark, and this one is no different. The landmark I’m talking about is Hydro Hill, a 600m uphill portion at the 11 mile mark of the race. The payoff is at the top of the hill: great view of the whole region down to lake Ontario, and a strong feeling of accomplishment. What a great trail race! Lots of ups and downs and that evil Hydro Hill with only a couple km to go! This past year they had a band, and the key to making it to the finish line, was beer!
Had a great time and will definitely keep coming back for more! Once you have done the race more than once, you start to get your name on the back of the shirts!

Wow, a long time ago but I did this race once, maybe twice. Super hot day, great little run along the river, combo of gravels and paths, not much support but that's okay. There is a tough climb near the end, so save some energy, I don't recall much in terms of swag or a medal (this was so long ago medals were not in vogue)! But I did WIN this race so what the heck...and the beer / fruit / food and pizza afterwards made it memorable to say the least (burp)!
