December 8. Awards Banquet a great success
Our First Annual Awards Banquet was a great success as the Ontario Track and Field Association welcomed and recognized over 40 athletes from across the province on Saturday, December 6, 2008. Olympic Bronze Medallist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep was on hand to congratulate all our winners and to accept the Athlete of the Year Award.
The Ontario Track and Field Association voted earlier in the day, at its Annual General Meeting, to change its name to Athletics Ontario. “This was a great beginning,” said Athletics Ontario Chair Bill Stephens. “We are changing direction, bringing in new programs and being more accountable to our membership. This was a fabulous way to launch the new look of the Association.”
