Adventure Racing  Popular

Welcome to sea2summit adventure racing, home of the largest multi-day, multi-discipline, stage adventure race series on the planet. The sea2summit Difference Adventure racing comes in many forms - short course/sprints, expedition style events, and stage races. It's this latter format in which sea2summit specializes, and has ever since its very first event in 1996. A 'stage' race is generally two or three days in length, and sees all racers begin together, working their way against the clock through a multi-discipline course to the daily finish line. Disciplines include a combination of flat water paddling, mountain biking, trekking/trail running, orienteering, and more often than not, surprise challenges - it's not unusual to download pre-race information only to find out that a Tyrolean Traverse over a 200 foot gorge has been added to your activity list. Expect the unexpected. Unlike other adventure racing formats, the emphasis in sea2summit is not on route finding. While map and compass skills are a definite for the orienteering sections, navigating your way through a sea2summit race is a fairly straightforward affair. Love mountain biking? You'll love sea2summit - and the fact that you can put navigation to the back of your mind as you dig in and hammer up that last 16 km of washed out spur road... the beauty of the downhill on the other side is simply a bonus. A really nice bonus. The sea2summit Athletes Throughout its history, sea2summit races have attracted rookie adventure racers, finely tuned professional athletes and all those in between - and the same is true today. We're proud that the stage format makes sea2summit attainable for even first time adventure racers, and equally proud that for those who place or win, it is a fast paced, intense athletic experience. First timers can expect to average about 12 hours per day, while elite, world class competitors complete brutal 80 km days in a mindblowing 6 hours. For anyone wanting to test their physical limits in a safe environment, this is the place. Team or Solo - the Choice is Yours Contemplating completing a wilderness race solo can be pretty intimidating. So can the thought of racing with a team of 4. So we give you choice. Instead of offering only one category in which you can register, as is often the case with other race formats, sea2summit offers solo, team of 2, and team of 4 categories (coed or all men/all women). Less rigidity means more variety... and more fun. And it's All About the Fun. The sea2summit experience is this - impeccable safety systems, meticulous attention to detail, elaborate risk management plans, mud, sweat, tears - and fun. There's a comaraderie among atheletes at sea2summit events that's unparalleled. Whether commiserating over bruises in a steaming hot tub or enjoying drinks beneath the brilliant scenery that make Intrawest resorts some of the most visited in the world, your sea2summit race weekend memories will be some of your favourites. Meet us in the Mountains Four unique races in four unique communities. A mission to organize safe outdoor experiences for adventurous people who have an appetite for challenge, all the while celebrating all who participate in the sea2summit experience - not just who wins. All summed up by four little words... teamwork, adventure, adrenaline, challenge. It's all yours - go get it.
