Ottawa & Montreal Kenyan's time short two minutes to beat course record

OTTAWA - For about the first 30 kilometres of Sunday's 42.2-kilometre marathon of Ottawa Race Weekend, a group of nine elite runners stuck together like glue, handed off cups of water to each other at the water stations and looked like an inseparable band of brothers.

Ottawa & Montreal The question is: Will John Halvorsen have to wait 20 more years before his record in the 10-kilometre event of the Ottawa Race Weekend is broken?

Ottawa & Montreal Ottawa may have had the better hockey team this year, but at least our marathon is faster....

David Cheruiyot

Ottawa, Canada - Excitement was palpable at the ING Ottawa Marathon as Kenyan David Cheruiyot set a new course record, crossing the finish line with a personal best time of 2:10:35. The previous course record was held by Elly Rono, also from Kenya, with a time of 2:11:47, set in 2004.

Ottawa & Montreal (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) Forget Boulder or San Diego. Ottawa has become the new mecca for triathlons. In fact, the Nation’s Capital - with its harsh, long winters and truncated summers – has more entrants than any other city in the world in the upcoming World Ironman Championships in Hawaii on Saturday, October 21.

It wasn't pretty, but I finished. Not in my dream time of 3:59, but according to the big clock at the finish line, it took me 4:27 to complete 42 kilometres.

Ottawa & Montreal By Lynne Bermel

On June 24th, one of the brightest stars to shine on the Canadian running scene will be racing in the first-ever RunnersWeb5K.com Race for Women. She plans to cover the race, which follows the Aviation Parkway, in just under 16 minutes. For Emilie Mondor of Mascouche, Quebec, that should be like a moderate tempo run.
