Six organizations added to B.A.A.'s Official Charity Program
Boston, Mass. - Online registration for the 112th Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 21, 2008, will begin at 9:00 a.m. eastern time on Wednesday, September 5. Held on Patriots' Day, a Massachusetts holiday, Boston is the world's oldest annual marathon. Since 1986, the principal sponsor of the Boston Marathon has been John Hancock Financial Services.

BOSTON --Robert Cheruiyot won the Boston Marathon for the third time Monday, defending his title in the remnants of a soaking nor'easter to bring Kenya its 15th victory in 17 years. Russia's Lidiya Grigoryeva captured the women's crown.

Needham native will have earth support running on ground as she does 26.2-miles aboard the International Space Station.
Boston, Mass. – For the first time, a Boston Marathon qualifier will run the race in space. NASA astronaut and Needham, MA, native Sunita (Suni) Williams (41) is planning on running the 26.2 mile race on a treadmill onboard the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday, April 16, the same day as the world’s most prestigious marathon: the 111th Boston Marathon.

BOSTON, Mass. – Online registration for next year's Boston Marathon commences Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at noon eastern time. The 111th Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 -- Patriots' Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts -- and the field size will be limited to 22,500 official entrants.

American Olympians and Past Champions Head Field of 31 Athletes for 110th
Running
BOSTON, MA - March 16, 2006 - John Hancock Financial Services today
announced its elite team of 31 marathon runners from 13 countries, including
American Olympic silver medalist Meb Keflezighi, defending champion Hailu
Negussie from Ethiopia, and past champions Timothy Cherigat and Robert
Kipkoech Cheruiyot of Kenya. The race is set for Monday, April 17, 2006.
This will be John Hancock's 21st year as principal sponsor of the event.

Improvement will have positive effects on participants and residents
in the Town of Hopkinton; entire race will be more efficient.
Also, a minor change in course near race's finish will allow pedestrian and
vehicular traffic on Massachusetts Avenue to pass above while race is in
progress.
