Simon Whitfield blistered the run course at the 2006 HSBC National Championships and won his 6th National Title despite trailing by over 2 minutes heading into the final 10km run. Whitfield stole the spotlight and left the 3,000 spectators at Professor’s Lake in Brampton in awe with his incredible run split of 30:17. Whitfield easily outdistanced Hamilton native, Colin Jenkins, by 25 seconds and finished with a time of 1:51:11.

TORONTO. 27th June 2006. Organizers are delighted to report that approval has been received for some minor, yet highly significant course adjustments for this year’s Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, to be run on the flat, fast, lakeshore course on Sunday, September 24th. Now, there will be more of the scenic, Historic Downtown, St.Lawrence Market neighbourhood for the first few kilometers, and only half the previous distance on the Leslie St. Spit [Tommy Thompson Park] in the second-half of the marathon.

Nicole Stevenson of Toronto, Canada's #2 ranked female marathoner took the lead just after the 1K mark and never relinquished it as she won the first RunnersWeb5k.com Race for Women run from the Aviation Museum in Ottawa this morning.

GOAL: 10 Days (current speed record is 14 days, 10 hours)
DISTANCE: 527.2 miles (848.4km)
COURSE: Tobermory to Queenston
ABOUT THE TRAIL: The Bruce Trail is the longest and oldest continuous footpath in Canada. Each year 400,000 people visit the main trail and its vast network of sidetrails. The Bruce Trail Association (BTA) is a charitable organization committed to establishing a conservation corridor containing a footpath along the Niagara Escarpment in order to protect its natural ecosystems and to promote environmentally responsible public access to this UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
Today 47% of the Bruce Trail is protected from development, 53% remains vulnerable. The BTA is committed to securing the trail in its entirity.

We hit time station #42 last night in Troy , OH . There were periods of heavy rain, but around midnight the waterworks finally stopped and Kevin had a clear night sky to ride under. Bob and Jeff took turns talking to Kevin over the loudspeaker, trying to keep him focused and energized.
