July 21, 2009 - The city's decision to move the L.A. Marathon from a Sunday in March because of objections from the religious community was a bad one -- it should be reversed.

Former Chicago Marathon Champions Evans Cheruiyot, Patrick Ivuti and Lidiya Grigoryeva to Contend for Repeat Championships.
CHICAGO, IL (July 21, 2009) - 2008 Olympic Marathon gold medalist Sammy Wanjiru (KEN) today announced he will make his first U.S. appearance at the 2009 Bank of America Chicago Marathon in an attempt to better his current personal marathon record (2:05:10). With two sub-2:06 marathons to his credit and the benefits of Chicago's sleek course, the 22-year-old Kenyan's goals are within reach.

Zimbabwean Stephen Muzhingi won the Comrades Marathon in South Africa last month in the time of 5:23:27.
At the age of just 15 he was running 45km races and by 16 he had come sixth in a 60km race. It was during those early triumphs in rural Zimbabwe that Stephen Muzhingi realised he was destined to be a long-distance runner.

Chicago, USA - Fresh off her second U.S. 5000m track title, Kara Goucher will return to the roads to make her U.S. half-marathon debut at the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon on Sunday 2 August in her final tune-up prior to the Marathon at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Berlin, Germany (15 – 23 Aug).

Interest is building amongst keen multisporters and "weekend warriors" for Queenstown's 2009 The North Face Peak to Peak on July 25, and while last year's winner Glen Currie will compete, it will be his first endurance event since suffering an illness late last year.
