InternationalDisney's Wide World of Sports Announces Registration Cap For 2007 Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge

As a result of the overwhelming success of the inaugural Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge, Disney's Wide World of Sports announced today that registration will be capped at 3,000 participants in 2007.
The second annual Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge involves runners completing the marathon and the half marathon (39.3 total miles) that are part of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, scheduled for January 7-8, 2007 at Walt Disney World Resort.

In 2006, 2,373 participants completed the first-ever Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge. After evaluating the success of the inaugural event, race organizers concluded that 3,000 was ideal number of runners in both races. As with the individual events, the cap is necessary in order to regulate course capacity and maintain participant satisfaction and safety.

As in the inaugural year, competitors who accomplish this impressive physical challenge will receive a special Goofy Medal in addition to the Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse medals, which are awarded to half marathon and marathon finishers, respectively.

"The first Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge was a great success," said Jon Hughes, race director for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. "The registration cap will ensure thatparticipants will continue to enjoy the magic ofthe Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend whether they participate in the half marathon, the marathon or Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge."

NOTE: After the Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge cap is met, participants who choose to register for both races will not be included in the official challenge, therefore, not be eligible for the Goofy medal.

The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend will provide events and activities for the entire family. In addition to the 13.1 and 26.2-mile races, the weekend will also feature Disney's Family Fun Run 5K & Kids Races and Disney's Health & Fitness Expo at the Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

Individual registration fees are $100 for the marathon and $90 for the half marathon. Log onto www.disneyworldmarath on.com to register or for additional information.
